BIOHAZARD: An Underground Fashion Show

FOUNDER OF EGO DEATH COLLECTIVE, BIOHAZARD EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, DESIGNER

BIOHAZARD is a passion project for me and a testament to me leaning into what feels like my divine purpose: bringing people together  to embrace our collective oneness through art and shared experience. I’m extremely grateful for everyone involved in this community led project. Most everyone involved in the show has volunteered a great deal of their time, energy, and artistic abilities to make this possible. I am astounded and immensely grateful for the opportunity to work with such an amazing and inspiring community of human beings. The love and creativity in this group is contagious!

This is Hannah’s first time stepping into the roles of executive producer and designer. As an upcycle designer, Hannah continues to grow and evolve and thanks her late grandma Marge for being able to continue the family legacy.

“My grandma was a fashion designer and a seamstress,” Hannah said. “She sewed everything from beautiful wedding dresses to quilts to our Christmas dresses! I believe sewing is in my blood, and I often feel her energetically when I am creating.”

HANNAH MEYLE

DIRECTOR OF PRODUCTION DESIGN, MODEL

Mark Trace got his beginning in film and theater by attending The Juilliard School in New York City. After which he spent 10 years in front and behind the camera in various capacities as an actor, set designer, film maker. Mark stemmed away from Film to concentrate on set design and creative direction with various production companies in the Festival world. He’s done creative direction for ARC MUSIC FESTIVAL, LYRICAL LEMON, AND ELECTRIC FOREST. He has created and fabricated art pieces that have been displayed and featured at Burning Man. He has worked on various tours, working production, 3-D rendering, and holograms.

His biggest inspirations are Es Devlin and Virgil Abloh. His aspirations are to create a blend of modern music, stage design, music video production in a modern aesthetic, that blends art, fashion, and film.

MARK TRACE

DESIGNER

Misfits & Mischief is a genderless all black & white clothing line focused on bringing art back into fashion. Many of our pieces begin as upcycled garments that we transform by hand painting, spiking, studding, and other forms of reconstructing into wearable works of art.

After learning that the fashion industry is the second most damaging industry to the environment, we made it our mission to repurpose and upcycle clothing as a way to reduce the impact of fast fashion. Rather than creating more waste, we believe in giving existing pieces new life through creativity and craftsmanship.

BIOHAZARD is a project that closely aligns with our beliefs about the environmental harm caused by the fashion industry. It is an honor to participate in a show that uses fashion as a platform to confront these issues and inspire change.

MISFITS & MISCHIEF

DESIGNER, PRODUCTION ARTIST

The world is ever-changing, expressing how that mutability affects the perception and establishment of the self is an important outlet of creative expression. For that reason, an event like BIOHAZARD carries weight, and it's that messaging that brought me to create the installations and pieces I did.

DANIEL GLINSKI

DESIGNER

For me, fashion is a language of comfort, confidence, and personal history. What began a decade ago at a major craft store has blossomed into a full-fledged artistic practice rooted in love for creating garments.

Sewing is in my blood with a sewing legacy passed down through generations. The craft truly became my calling when I was given my first sewing machine. This moment felt like a sign, transforming thread and fabric into tools of resilience and joy.

Drawing daily inspiration from the textures, colors, and shapes of my everyday surroundings, I believe style has no single definition. I'm passionately eclectic, finding beauty in everything from vintage silhouettes to modern minimalism. My core philosophy is simple: clothing should be a source of comfort and a catalyst for confidence. Through my work, I aim to create pieces that do more than adorn the body. They uplift the spirit, spreading a message of positivity and self-assurance one stitch at a time.

SOUND

My name is Wes, some might call me Wild Wes. I’m a sound artist, musician, and facilitator, someone who has always believed that sound is one of the most powerful forces for connection and transformation. Whether I’m leading a sound journey with gong and flute, playing my guitar, or dialing in a room’s acoustics, my intention is always the same: to serve the experience and the people in it. My role with the show covers everything in the sound world: equipment sourcing and setup, sound checks, and tear-down. I take care of the sonic environment so that every other element of the show can land the way it’s meant to.

Being part of Ego Death Collective means showing up in service of something bigger than yourself. BIOHAZARD is exactly that kind of project, and I’m grateful to be a small part of bringing it to life.

BOBBY “DJ MR. BOBBY” HERNANDEZ

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

My name is Sergio, although I oftentimes go by the name, “Serg”. I am often described by others as someone who is empathic, kind, selfless, ambitious, organized and a strong leader. I find myself lending a helping hand wherever and whenever it is needed, and people often wonder as to why. Through helping others, time and time again, I gain valuable experiences that allow me to grow. My mentality is simple: if spreading love costs nothing, why not help if you can? Through these traits I am typically considered to be an extravert. That`s actually how I got started with BIOHAZARD.

One day while attending Hannah`s Expression Club, I began getting curious on how I could be of service to my community at The Jungle. I connected with Hannah, and I told her how I love event planning and am pretty well organized. After only a few brief moments, I found myself in collaboration with her on an upcoming production, BIOHAZARD, where she brought me on as the Volunteer Coordinator. My role had me manage a team of fifty people. From start to finish, I was collecting everyone`s information who expressed interest in the project, following up with everyone, seeing what days and times worked best for us to gather, taking team meeting notes to reflect on and plan accordingly. I helped with making sure everyone was staying on task and offered additional assistance to Hannah when needed. I help create the project’s calendar and other important documents to keep us organized in supporting smooth transitions until completion.

I, like so many others, found myself investing a lot of time and energy to see this vision came to life. BIOHAZARD aims to bring awareness to the masses about our overconsumption specifically in the fast-pace fashion world, highlighting themes of future dystopian versus nature and sustainability. Through reusing and recycling materials, we intend to transform everyday waste into upcycle designs that will inspire everyone to redefine what waste is.

MODEL

Hello! My name is Danielle but people call me DJ! I’m a new 21 y/o model from Chicago! I love love loveeee anything music and comedy. :) Lucky for me my best friend is actually one of the designers and for the longest time we’ve been huge fashionistas and supporting her in her dream is such a big deal to me. To me this project is everything I dreamed of, it was a chance for me to get out of my comfort zone and to show the people how creative I can be! The people are great and friendly and all around gorgeous and overall I am very excited to be here!

DANIELLE “DJ” JOHNSON

MODEL

I am the queen of side quests and your #1 fan/supporter, even if that means randomly doing a casting call to do a fashion show for a friend! I am an artist that loves to create and collaborate in whatever department!

The fashion show was suggested to me by my karaoke peers, and I’m always about supporting artists and their artistry.

What this project means to me is unity and uplifting one's vision. Even if it's not our personal particular medium, I'm glad to be a part of someone's art. It's different for me and it's an outlet for my friends. It's a win win. I'm always more than happy to be the slightest bit of help even if I'm just the mannequin or the mold of a piece they have in mind.

I believe this project is of importance because of what it stands for. I love the idea of restyling with recycled pieces. One man's trash is another man's treasure. There's beauty in even the most rugged. Scrapped. I think that's beautiful.

So as the model I'm looking forward to bringing these pieces to life! My contribution will be confidently walking that runway proud, head held high owning these recycled pieces that my fellow peers handpicked for, stitched for, bled a little for. Sweat a little for. Late nights . Early mornings. I'd be honored to represent these hard working artists. I will be the representation of my fellow talented, Chicagoan designers!
